Live Captioning Rates
We offer two levels of captioning services and will work with campus departments or units to determine the level of service required for your live event, whether virtual or in-person. There are several factors involved in the analysis of which level of captioning is required: audience size, known accommodation requests, type of event, etc.
Zoom Live Captioning
Our office offers a live transcription service through Otter.ai that provides equal communication access for live Zoom meetings. The cost for this service is $75 per user, per year.
WEBINARS: The Otter.ai service is not available for Zoom webinars at this time. We work with a third party service to offer auto-generated live captioning for Zoom WEBINARS that are open to the public and for virtual events using Zoom where a captioning request is made. The price for the Zoom Webinar live captioning service is $0.60 per minute.
In-Person Live Event Captioning
When a campus organization, department, or unit hosts a large event on campus that is open to the public and the needs of the audience are largely unknown, captioning using a human captioner is strongly recommended. The price for this service ranges from $95 to $120 per hour.
All campus events, no matter the size or venue, should include a disability accommodations statement such as “If you require assistance or accommodations relating to a disability, please contact [contact name] at [phone number] and [email address] by [date]. If you receive an accommodation request, it must be accommodated. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
